Extensions

An extension will give you six extra months to file your federal tax return but it will NOT give you more time to pay what you owe. If we’re filing an extension for you, and you’re not confident that you’ll receive a refund, we encourage you to make an extension payment by the April deadline.

The Rescue America Act will make unemployment benefits received in 2020 partially non-taxable, if it passes. Iowa has already passed a similar law. Good news for folks who received unemployment income last year! Not-so-good news for the people trying to prepare tax returns while the laws that affect those returns are being changed.
